One of the infusion options, and what we’ll be talking about today, is dark damage! And if you want to make the most out of the weapons in this list, you’ll need to invest heavily in Faith or Intelligence. But with that said, let’s take a look at the best candidates to infuse with a darknight stone.
5. Silverblack Spear
Poking its way to number 5, we have the Silverblack Spear. Do not be fooled by the relatively low numbers, for this long stabby boy is a very reliable companion for any hexer. Spears are one of the best weapons for PvE and PvP with great reach and low stamina consumption. Depending on what weapon type you prefer to use, this can be substituted with the Silverblack Sickle for similar results. How to get: Dropped by spear-wielding Grave Wardens.
4. Sacred Chime Hammer
The weapon of Velstadt the royal aegis, this greathammer is a sound choice for any muscular wizard. Though it has some pretty steep requirements, in return for your investment you get one of the highest Attack Ratings among dark-based weapons. Its two-handed strong attack creates orbs that slowly chase the nearest enemy, similarly to the Affinity hex. Anyone struck by this bell is sure to be left with their ears ringing. How to get: Trade the Soul of Velstadt to Weaponsmith Ornifex.
3. Fume Sword
For the more dextrous players, the Fume sword might be the best pick out there. Just like any other straight sword, it’s fast, agile, and very maneuverable, sporting As and Bs in its post-infusion scaling. What makes it relatively peculiar is its exceptional range (for a straight sword, that is), its above-average poise damage, but also its above average stamina consumption. If you’re leaning more on the Dex side of things, you can always keep it uninfused and just use a Dark Pine Resin, to take advantage of the S scaling. How to get: Trade the Soul of the Fume Knight with Weaponsmith Ornifex.
2. Roaring Halberd
Aside from being one of the coolest-looking weapons in the game, our semifinalist for this list is a powerhouse in many other aspects too. You might be thinking “Why is this better than the others, when it has worse scaling?” And I’ll tell you why. Being a halberd translates to having a great moveset and great reach. Buffing this weapon with enchants like Dark Weapon makes it even more deadly (especially the heavy and running attacks). Wearing a Ring of Blades and a Dark Clutch Ring can set your AR to very high levels. So yeah, halberds are amazing (I might be a bit biased). How to get: Trade the Skeleton Lord’s Soul to Straid of Olaphis.
1. Crypt Blacksword
Our number one pick is the definition of “Go ultra or go home” or something like that. Bearing many similarities to the Sacred Chime Hammer, the Crypt Blacksword is another option for any brawny caster out there. To be honest, there’s really not much to say about it other than “It hurts, a lot”. And you’ll be mostly two-handing it to halve the Strength requirement. Infusing it with Dark raises its scaling to a perfect S, meaning it does an absurd amount of dark damage that can one-hit most enemies. And in Dark Souls II, that’s a lot of damage! How to get: Trade the Old Dead One’s Soul to Weaponsmith Ornifex.
